Acknowledgement
The
authors would like to acknowledge the help of the several teachers and
colleagues who contributed to this Guide, especially Dan Kowal, Colorado
Institute for Research in the Environmental Sciences, Mary Teets, Poudre
Valley School District, Diane Theorine, Jefferson County School District,
and Joy Ikelman, National Geophysical Data Center. Special thanks to artist
and colleague Ann Reiser for the original illustrations accompanying the
stories. Any errors contained in the Guide are despite their best efforts.
We also would
like to thank the many excellent educational resources on the web. In
particular, we acknowledge the U.S. Geological Survey, Volcano World hosted
by the University of North Dakota, NASA's Learning Project, About.com's
Science section, and Project Learnz 2K. Thanks also to MapQuest for allowing
us to use maps generated from their web site. This is a work in progress.
We are continuing to improve the graphic content and welcome comments
and recommendations.
