About the Curators

The Curators of Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples group was formed in 1977, with support from the US National Science Foundation, to promote sharing of ideas, resources, and information related to the curation of geological samples from marine and lacustrine environments. Each member of the group is affiliated with a sample repository/archive that provides geological sample material to researchers. The Curators group meets at approximately two-year intervals, and maintains a database of shared information on their sample holdings, known as the Index to Marine and Lacustrine Geological Samples (IMLGS) database.
